Hey, Winefam here’s part three of ten Winedown Wednesday! This week, we’re talking Blanc… Kendall Jackson Sauvignon Blanc to be exact ya’ll. As we continue our ten-part series at CarbsNCabernet, let’s check out this Cali treasure that promises to elevate your garden parties and al fresco dinners and you won’t have to spend a fortune.
Do you think wine has to be expensive to be good?

A Crisp California Classic
Crafted in the sun-kissed vineyards of California, Kendall Jackson’s Sauvignon Blanc is your classic go-to. This medium-bodied vino dazzles with a crispness, with layers of honeysuckle, pear, and grapefruit. To be fair I couldn’t taste the grapefruit but it’s heavy on the pear.
Founded in 1974, the family-owned winery has flourished under the vision of Jess Jackson, with its first vines taking root in Lake County, California. Today, it stands as a beacon of sustainability and philanthropy under the leadership of Barbara Banke the late wife of Jess Jackson. They are also continuously supporting over 50 nonprofits while ensuring every bottle reflects their commitment to the environment with their multiple green certifications.
Taste
What struck me most about this Sauvignon Blanc was its unexpected sweetness. The wine is light yet packs a flavorful punch, predominantly showcasing pear and honeysuckle, with a palate-cleansing finish that introduces a subtle mineral quality alongside lime nuances. While the winemaker notes the presence of lemongrass, it was the combination of sweet and crisp that I picked up on the most. Serve chilled***
Food Pairings
It’s Carbsncabernet let’s talk about food pairings. This Sauvignon Blanc, with its balance of sweetness and acidity, is a versatile partner to a wide array of dishes. Here are a few to consider for your next gathering:
- Seafood: Think grilled shrimp or delicate sea bass, where the wine’s citrus notes will complement the seafood’s natural flavors.
- Chicken: A classic roast chicken or a creamy chicken alfredo pasta
- Salads/Veggies: Opt for goat cheese salads or green vegetable stir-fry es.
- Cheese: Soft cheeses, particularly goat cheese, with their tangy profile, enhance the crispness of the wine. (learned at a Zin Valle class definitely recommend)
Where to Find it???

Priced around $15, this Sauvignon Blanc is not just a testament to the winery’s legacy but a steal for the quality. Available at Total Wine, Wine.com, Walmart, Target, and your local grocer, it’s a must-add to your summer wine list. This is a great grab-and-go wine to take to a party. With an alcohol content of 13.5%, it promises to be the light yet impactful highlight of any garden party or summer gathering.
Two for One Sustainable Legacy
Not only do I love Kendall Jackson’s Sauvignon Blanc, but let’s not forget the winery’s dedication to sustainable practices and they give back too. Certified sustainable, they ensure that every bottle is one step further in making the world a better place.
