Hey Winefam, it’s Mom Tip Tuesday where your favorite winemom shares practical tips you can use if you missed last week check it out here. So
today we’re diving into my absolute favorite sunscreens for the spring and summer seasons. Living in sunny El Paso has turned me into a sunscreen guru—I’ve got a stash in my car, my purse, and pretty much every room in the house. Let’s not forget, that protecting our skin and our little ones’ skin from those powerful rays is crucial. Here are my top three reasons to slather on that SPF

  1. Prevents Sunburn: Trust me, a day of fun in the sun isn’t worth the red, painful aftermath. Sunscreen keeps those harmful UV rays at bay, ensuring our skin stays happy and burn-free.
  2. Lowers Skin Cancer Risks: Regular sunscreen use can significantly reduce the risk of developing skin cancers, especially melanoma, which is a biggie for both adults and kiddos.
  3. Keeps Skin Healthy: Who doesn’t want to keep their skin looking young and radiant? Sunscreen helps prevent signs of aging caused by sun exposure, like wrinkles and sunspots. It’s never too late to protect your skin.

Now, onto my TOP sunscreens.

For the Kiddos
Black Girl Sunscreen for Kids has been a game-changer. It’s perfect for water play, doesn’t leave that ghostly white residue, and is packed with natural ingredients. Plus, it’s formulated especially for our little ones’ delicate skin.

For Hands
I’m all about Supergoop! Sunscreen. It’s lightweight, doesn’t feel greasy, and keeps my hands protected whether I’m driving around town or playing in the park with the kids. I add these gloves too( use them at the nail salon too) on really sunny days.

Lastly for my face

La Roche-Posay Facial Moisturizer with SPF is my holy grail. It’s moisturizing without being heavy, and it sits perfectly under makeup, making it my daily go-to. This moisturizer comes in non sunscreen form too FYI. I also love how this one doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin as a brown-skinned woman it can be hard to find sunscreens that work with my skin tone. Check out my results here, and don’t forget to follow me for more skincare tips for eczema.

Picking the right sunscreen can feel like a chore, so here are a few tips to make it easier:

  • Look for “broad-spectrum” on the label to ensure protection against both UVA and UVB rays.
  • Opt for an SPF of 30 or higher for adequate protection, as recommended by the American Dermatology Association.
  • Consider water-resistant options if you’re planning water activities or expect a lot of sweating.
  • For sensitive skin(especially eczema) , mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are less likely to irritate.

Remember, sunscreen isn’t just for the beach or hiking. Daily use, even on cloudy days, is key to protecting our skin’s health. Stay sun-safe all spring and summer, Winefam! As always hoping your wine or your coffee is stronger than your kids.
xoxo,
Amber-Nicole
