Coffee, Puppies, and Plants: The Cutest Kid-Friendly Plant Shop in El Paso

If you’re like me and always on the hunt for kid-friendly spots that aren’t just bounce houses or parks, this one’s for you.

I saw a post by Annie’s Adventures. I packed up the kids and headed to Viva la Plant Shop. This kid friendly shop is tucked away on the west side of El Paso at 2609 Stanton Street, right near Pure Barre. (Plenty of parking, by the way.) The moment we walked in, we were hit with the dream combo: the smell of fresh coffee, rows of gorgeous plants, and yes, Winefam, puppies.

And not just for show. Viva la Plant Shop partners with El Paso Animal Services through their nonprofit, Paws at Work EP, to foster and help pups find their forever homes. I met the sweetest little Chihuahua mix named Dolly, and honestly, I almost didn’t leave without her. Viva la Plant Shop is truly becoming a positive part of the community.

Owners Iris and Matt started their plant journey with a mobile plant bus in Memphis, then brought that same magic to the Sun City. If you’ve ever spotted their pop-ups around town, now’s the time to visit their first brick-and-mortar location.

Inside, you’ll find everything from money trees and aloe to unique beauties like Alocasia Stingrays. Iris and Matt are incredibly helpful and will guide you toward a plant that fits your lifestyle. Not all of us can handle high-maintenance plants. Rest in peace, Frances the Fiddle Leaf Fig. Plant prices are budget friendly some even for $4 with seeds available for purchase as well.

If you need a weekend plan, check out their Summer Solstice Terrarium and Mossarium Workshops happening this Saturday and Sunday. It’s hands-on, creative, and definitely kid-approved.

Another bonus is Unbound Coffee, located right inside the shop. I ordered the Love Tonic, which is a lavender and vanilla drink that hit the spot. Five out of five stars. Barista Spencer makes all the ingredients fresh on-site, and you can taste the difference. They also offer vegan and gluten-free options, which is perfect for allergy-conscious moms.

Viva la Plant Shop also hosts regular community events like movie nights, paint-and-pot evenings, and plant education days. They’ll even re-pot your plant in-store, and many of their pots are locally sourced right here in the Borderland. It’s small touches like this that really make this place special.

If you are looking for a chill summer outing that includes coffee, puppies, learning, and plants, Viva la Plant Shop should be on your list. It is friendly, welcoming, and absolutely Carbs and Cabernet approved. Be sure to check out the dogs there too! You can foster or adopt. Let’s support this female owned business right here in El Paso.

Meet the Face Behind CarbsnCabernet, Amber

A devoted mom of three, full-time RN, and unapologetic lover of Jesus, Amber is navigating life one shift, school pickup, and glass of Cabernet at a time. Through her blog, she shares the unfiltered reality of balancing motherhood, faith, career, and the occasional meltdown, with humor, grace, and a whole lot of carbs. Carbs & Cabernet is more than a blog, it’s a space for women who are doing their best, even when life feels like a beautiful mess. Amber opens up about the joys and struggles of parenting, her walk with Christ, the challenge of showing up fully as both a professional and a parent, and why sometimes the best therapy is girl talk and garlic bread. If you’re looking for honest encouragement, practical tips, and a little reminder that you’re not alone, you’re in the right place.
